Based on the formidable USAF F-16 and incorporating cutting-edge Japanese technology,
the Mitsubishi F-2 sits at the forefront of Japan’s air defense capabilities. Known as the “Viper Zero” after the F-16 Fighting Falcon’s “Viper” nickname and “Zero” in reference to the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, also denoting the F-2’s designation as the next-generation of Japanese fighter aircraft.
Its sleek contours, intricate details and dynamic functions are faithfully represented in this large 1:24 scale model developed by DeAgostini Japan and STK Workshop, with the support of the Tsuiki 8th Airborne Squadron With Build the JASDF F-2 Ace Fighter, now aviation fans in Malaysia can take control of the “Viper Zero”

To develop world's first large-scale F-2 model the real aircraft was captured from every angle using 360-degree photography. The contours, structure, exterior camouflage, cockpit interior, armaments and wing movements are all replicated in meticulous detail
- TSUIKI 8th SQUADRON CO-OPERATION
- In August 2020 the 8th Squadron at Tsuiki Air Base provided us access to the real aircraft. Every detail was meticulously documented including normally inaccessible areas such as the underside of the fuselage. High-altitude cranes were used to capture images of the aircraft from above. High resolution video recordings captured moving parts and lights. Audio recordings of the engine and other sounds were carefully recorded.

YASUHIRO SHIMADA - After graduating from the Aviation Engine Engineering department of Tokyo Metropolitan Aeronautical College, Mr. Shimada joined the JASDF, specializing in reconnaissance. Thereafter he served as a reporter and editor for Aviation Journal, before founding Defense Imaging Press. As well as his ongoing publishing activity, he currently lectures at the Kodaira school of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force.
